WINTER FUN DAY …..Everyone
Let it snow, Let it snow, Let it snow. Celebrate winter at PWELC with fun outdoor activities for everyone in the family including:
Snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and Scandinavian kicksleds. Indoors warm up by the fire, eat some chili, learn about winter hobbies,
listen to live music, and try your hand at the climbing wall.

No Pre-Registration Necessary

Date: Sunday, February 10th

Time: 11:00-4:00 pm

Cost: $5 per person, $15 max per family (for use of skies, snowshoes, and climbing wall)
 

Earth Day Celebration…Everyone
Open to all
A fun and educational experience for the whole family. Booths, exhibits, and activities offer information about water quality,
energy efficiency, land management, and much more. Pancake and sausage breakfast from 8-10am (free will donation).
Enjoy food, entertainment, kid activities and information about “greening” your life. Main presentation at 10:30.

No pre-registration necessary.

Environmental Education Programs

INTRO TO CROSS COUNTRY SKIING….grades 2 and older
Don’t let the snow keep you inside all winter long. Come learn the basics of cross country skiing.
Then hit the trails to practice your new skills. Instruction and equipment provided. (Meet at main building)

PWELC Extravaganza: ….grades 1 and older
NO SCHOOL TODAY-WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Get outside and explore this winter! Hit the trails and have an adventure on the skinny skis or Scandinavian kicksleds.
Learn some winter survival skills. Then we will come inside to finish the day at the indoor climbing wall. Meet at main building.
Date: Monday, January 21st AND Monday, February 18th
Time: 8:00-4:00pm
Cost: $25/person per day

Lorax Event
Ages: All – Families Welcome
Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!!! Watch a presentation of Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax presented by the Prairie Woods Puppet Theatre.
Sip on cider & munch on popcorn during the show.
After the show, enjoy self-guided, hands on science activities in the center – try your knowledge at bird identification,
learn about a watershed, create a miniature stream & see how water works,
discover the real difference in energy use between incandescent bulbs & LED bulbs.
Staff will be available for questions and assistance.

Time Travel Programs

Pioneer Winter Survival.....grades 3rd-6th
Do you have what it takes to survive a Minnesota winter pioneer style? Come to the 1888 cabin and find out. Dress as a pioneerm help saw wood, makes candles, learn to build a fire with flint and steel, try snow shoeing & Scandinavian kicksleddind and then warm of by the fire with some hot apple cider.

Shooting Sports

Archery Class………..grades 5 and up
This class gives you the opportunity to learn the basics of using a compound bow and arrow. 
We will be working on form, safety, technique, how to properly use the equipment, etc.
A hands-on class of learning and fun while practicing and playing archery games that all ages will enjoy. 
All equipment will be provided. Meet at farmsite.

MN DNR Firearm Safety.
This is for participants that have completed the MN DNR online- Firearm Safety Class.

Cost: $7.50

MDHA FORKHORN II CAMP (DAY CAMP)
Camp starts: Monday, July 8th 2019
Camp ends: Friday, July 12th 2019
This archery safety course is a part of a DAY CAMP.
Camp is open to 11-15 year olds.
This camp is for youth who have completed their Firearms Safety Training. Forkhorn II goes beyond the basics and focuses on archery and deer hunting. Campers will learn to properly shoot compound bows and much more. Campers will also participate in traditional camp activities such as rock climbing, canoeing and more. MN DNR Bow Hunting Certification is included.
 Cost: $250

MDHA FORKHORN I CAMP
Ages 11-16
This firearms safety course is a part of an overnight summer camp
Participants will sleep in tents and cook their meals over a coleman stove.
This camp is designed to teach beginning hunting skills. It will provide extensive hands-on instruction in basic safety/shooting techniques
for rifle, shotgun, and archery. It will also include classes on Whitetail deer ecology, outdoor survival skills, and Hunters ethics
along with traditional camp activities like canoeing and rock climbing.
Camp starts: Sunday, July 14th @ 3:00
Camp ends: Thursday, July 18th @ 1:00
Cost: $380
