Shooting Sports Liability Waiver

Gary Westby Educational Shooting Sports Range

The Gary Westby Educational Shooting Sports range offers opportunities for sportsmen, sportswomen, and youth. The Range consists of a five-stand sporting clays range and a ten-bench .22 smallbore rifle range.

 Programs include:

• Firearms safety classes for youth
• MDHA Forkhorn overnight camp (firearm/bow safety)
• Sporting clays leagues for men, women, and youth
• Women's sampler events
• Archery clubs
• Other special events

*Preregistration is required for all firearm safety classes*

MN DNR Firearm Safety Field Day for online Course.
This class is the required field day for youth that have completed the MN DNR firearm Safety Online Class.
Date: Saturday, April 29th 2023
Time: 8:00am-4:00 (firearm check-in starting at 7:30)
Cost: $7.50

Youth Shotgun Sporting Clays
Sponsored by Tommy Swenson Memorial Ice Fishing Tournament.
Ages: 12-18
Did you know that Prairie Woods ELC has a Sporting Clay Shotgun Range? The clays come from the left, right, straight at you, from behind you, there is even one that rolls on the ground. Bring your own (12 or 20ga) shotgun. Program cost greatly reduced due to contribution from the Tommy Swenson Memorial Ice Fishing Tournament. (Meet at Westby shooting range). Max 5 participants per time slot.

Youth Sporting Clay & .22 Shoot - Sponsored by Pheasants Forever.
Ages: 11-16
This is a great oppourtunity to shoot for the 1st time OR improve your already existing shooting skills. Safe gun handling instruction will be included in this class. Firearms, Shells, and targets will be provided. You may bring your own 12 or 20ga shotgun. meal to follow program (Meet at Westby shooting range)

MDHA FORKHORN I CAMP - Day Camp format
Camp is open to 11-15 year olds.
This camp is designed to teach beginning hunting skills. It will provide extensive hands-on instruction in basic safety and shooting techniques for rifle, shotgun, and archery. It will also include classes on Whitetail deer ecology, outdoor survival skills, and Hunters ethics along with traditional camp activities like canoeing and rock climbing.MN DNR Firearm Safety Certification included.
Dates: June 12th -16th 2023
Monday - Thursday hours will be 9:00-4:00
Friday 9:00-12:00 (range day)
Cost: $350
